Mobile Getting Started Guide
Primary Paging Policy
It is important that you have a diverse and robust Primary Paging Policy in place so this is the first setting we recommend configuring. This article will help you navigate to and edit the Personal Paging Policy feature on both iOS and Android systems. Within the Splunk On-Call Mobile App, you are able to easily view and update your paging policies from iOS and Android devices.
iOS
In the Splunk On-Call Mobile App, select the Users icon at the bottom of your iOS device’s screen. Then select the person icon from the Users page.
From your User Profile page, you may select the Paging Policies tab to view your current configuration. If you’d like to change your paging policy select Edit. Here you may delete, update, or add steps to your Primary Paging Policy and Custom Paging Policies from your iOS device. Once complete, be sure to save your changes!
Android
As with iOS devices, editing and creating Primary Paging Policies and Custom Paging Policies in the Splunk On-Call Mobile App is only a few clicks away. Select the Users icon at the bottom, then select the person from the resulting Users page. Finally, select the Paging Policies tab.
Once you’ve accessed your Paging Policies, select Edit. Select the step you’d like to Edit or Add Step.

Phone Notifications to China (country code +86)
Due to the strict regulatory nature of carrier networks in China (+86), getting consistent and reliable notifications to end-users there can be a challenge. To help mitigate this challenge, On-Call Support will, upon request, provide a list (VictoOps China vCard) of “from” numbers for recipients to import into their mobile contacts. The numbers from this list will be the only numbers we will use for phone notifications to our customers in China. You may request this list by contacting On-Call support via the Splunk Support Portal or through in-product chat.
For our China-Specific Splunk On-Call vCard of Contacts please Contact Support
IMPORTANT NOTE: On-Call has recently taken technical measures to modify call handling for end-users within the (+86) China Country Code. These measures were implemented in an effort to prevent/avoid telecommunications restrictions and zero-second duration calls associated with our efforts to notify On-Call users in that region.
After On-Call has made three attempts to notify via PHONE CALL to the (+86) China Country Code, we will cease any further attempts to contact the end-user for a period of two hours. After two hours, we will make another three attempts, beginning the cycle again.
If you are an end-user in this region, to avoid a single point of failure, it is our recommendation that you request and import our VictorOps China vCard to your mobile contacts, quickly recognize and acknowledge our notifications, and diversify your Personal Paging Policy to include SMS, Push, and email.
